Welcome to Kingdom Catering January 2012 Market Report,
Not too much to report but that's to be expected this time of year, Spanish produce such as aubergines, courgettes, tomatoes, peppers may rise a bit over the next few weeks due to limited supply. French produce, shallots, rosevale potatoe, artichokes, frisee, lollo, blonde etc won't really change until the weather warms up then the price will come down. In England, salads are in extremely short supply so prices will reflect this until better weather arrives. • Seville oranges from Spain have started, ideal for marmalade or sorbets • Blood oranges from Italy are excellent • Sea kale from Scotland has to be one of the finest products available! Great with a blood orange hollandaise! • Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb is very plentiful and will be around until April. • Wild mushrooms - The best value mushrooms are yellow and grey chantarelle and Pied de Mouton, there is also trompette and girolle but its a bit more expensive.
